Energie : le RN dépose une motion de censure contre la stratégie 2035 23.02.2026

The Rassemblement National (RN) party has filed a motion of no confidence in the French government in the National Assembly on February 23rd, protesting the February 13th publication of the 2035 energy strategy by decree. RN leader Marine Le Pen urged opposition deputies to support the motion, which criticizes the government's approach as "illiberal" and its energy policy as favoring intermittent sources, misrepresenting nuclear power, and risking public finances. The RN argues the strategy should have been legislated, not decreed, and attributes the focus on intermittent energies to the European Commission. The motion, filed under the energy code, will be debated soon but is unlikely to pass, as previous RN no-confidence votes have not garnered left-wing support. The government's strategy, unveiled February 12th after delays, prioritizes decarbonized electricity, including nuclear, to replace fossil fuels, while moderating the expansion of onshore wind and solar.
