Reconstruction works for the ice pond located in the Verugal - Punanagar area of Trincomalee district officially commenced on Saturday (04). Trincomalee District Member of Parliament Shanmugam Gukthadasan inaugurated the ceremony. This project is being undertaken at a cost of approximately 1.5 million rupees under the diversified fund scheme of MP Shanmugam Gukthadasan. The foundation stone was laid with religious rituals during the inaugural event. The ceremony was attended by Verugal Pradeshiya Sabha Chairman Sethuraman Karunathanidhi, Verugal Divisional Secretary M.A. Anas, and Verugal Grama Niladhari Service Development Officer Kumar Shanthakumar. Furthermore, several prominent figures, including Verugal Pradeshiya Sabha members and members of the farmers' association, participated in the event and expressed their support. This project is considered highly significant in meeting the needs of the local community.
