Reform UK’s Farage failed to disclose funds from convicted criminal: Report 05.07.2026

A Sunday Times investigation alleges that Reform UK leader Nigel Farage failed to disclose significant financial benefits provided by convicted fraudster George Cottrell. Before his 2024 election to Parliament, Cottrell reportedly funded Farage's security, drivers, staff, and accommodation, including a five-storey townhouse near Buckingham Palace. While Farage declared only £9,200 for Belgian travel, reports suggest Cottrell paid three staff members to manage Farage's social media. Consequently, Liberal Democrat MP Josh Babarinde has requested an investigation by the Parliamentary Commissioner for Standards, citing potential breaches of the MP Code of Conduct regarding undeclared benefits exceeding £300. Farage's spokesperson dismissed the claims as "baseless," asserting no rules were broken. This controversy follows a separate investigation into Farage regarding £5 million received from cryptocurrency billionaire Christopher Harborne, which Farage claims was intended for his personal security.
