Secretary for Home Affairs, Youth and Sports, Mak Mei-fun, stated that the government has relaxed licensing requirements for operating guesthouses, campsites, and campervans in rural areas, including regulations regarding fire safety measures. While regulations are being eased to meet the needs of rural communities, Mak emphasized that there will be no compromise on safety. She noted that inspections and supervision will be strengthened, including through surprise inspections and intelligence gathering, to ensure that relevant premises comply with fire safety standards. This move aims to provide more operational flexibility in rural areas while maintaining necessary safety levels.
