Riga City Council Education Department Director Balamovskis is resigning after admitting to violations in the use of an official vehicle. He admitted that in December of last year, he used the service vehicle nine times to travel home after work without making the necessary entries in the route logs. Balamovskis explained that these trips occurred during a period of intense work, when the department was addressing important tasks, such as the preparation of the municipal budget and the reorganization of the school network. The director took full responsibility for his mistakes and proposed settling the case through a pre-trial settlement agreement. Balamovskis, who was appointed to the position on March 25 of this year and took office in April, highlighted the department's achievements, including the implementation of a digital application system and the transition to a unified school.
