Robin Padilla, Jonvic Remulla jostle as 18 ex-Marines enter Senate 04.06.2026

A tense confrontation erupted at the Senate on Thursday between Senator Robin Padilla and Interior and Local Government Secretary Jonvic Remulla as a group of 18 individuals claiming to be former Marines entered the premises for a Blue Ribbon Committee hearing. Despite earlier announcements that no hearing would be held, several senators convened, with Senator Pia Cayetano presiding. DILG Secretary Remulla stated he was pushed aside and not blocking anyone. Senator Imee Marcos questioned Remulla's presence, suggesting a potential overreach by the DILG into Senate affairs. Presidential Palace Press Officer Usec. Claire Castro warned that President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. would not tolerate such disorder if it continued until his State of the Nation Address on July 27.
