Rubio says TRIPP could “revolutionize” Armenia’s strategic position 03.06.2026

U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated that the TRIPP project, an agreement signed between the U.S. and Armenia on May 26 in Yerevan, has the potential to significantly alter Armenia's strategic standing by transforming it into a key regional trade hub. This connectivity initiative, part of the U.S.-brokered Armenian-Azerbaijani peace deal, addresses Azerbaijan's access concerns and promises to revitalize the Armenian economy. Rubio noted that TRIPP has also strengthened U.S.-Armenia relations, which had been largely stagnant, opening doors for broader cooperation. While acknowledging Russia's displeasure with U.S. involvement, Rubio emphasized that the U.S. aims to foster mutually beneficial economic opportunities, encouraging private sector investment in infrastructure for the benefit of all parties involved, particularly the Armenian people. The successful execution of the project is considered crucial for realizing its full potential.
