Rumeen Farhana slams govt over rise in crimes in its first 100 days 08.06.2026

Brahmanbaria-2 MP Barrister Rumeen Farhana expressed grave concern in parliament regarding a significant rise in crime during the government's initial 100 days. Citing data from Transparency International Bangladesh (TIB) for March and April, she highlighted 605 murders, 294 muggings, 90 robberies, 196 abductions, and 2,214 thefts. Farhana also detailed a disturbing increase in violence against women and children, with 3,496 reported abuse cases, including a substantial number of rapes and child rapes. She criticized the absence of the Home Minister during the debate, asserting that law and order, alongside the economy, are critical components of any government's performance assessment.
