Nepal's public debt reached 29 trillion 61 billion 19 crore rupees by the end of Jestha of the current fiscal year 2082/83. This is an increase of 2 trillion 87 billion 14 crore rupees compared to the beginning of the previous fiscal year. According to the Public Debt Management Office, this debt is equivalent to 44.87 percent of Nepal's Gross Domestic Product (GDP). Out of the total debt, 15 trillion 83 billion 91 crore rupees is foreign debt and 13 trillion 77 billion 28 crore rupees is internal debt.
