Russian War of Aggression EU transfers further billions to Ukraine 08.06.2026

The European Union has disbursed an additional €2.8 billion in financial aid to Ukraine to fund essential state expenditures, particularly in the social and humanitarian sectors. This payment is the seventh under the Ukraine Facility, which is intended to provide up to €50 billion by the end of 2027. Since the beginning of the Russian invasion in 2022, the EU has pledged a total of almost €205 billion in support, with €3.8 billion stemming from revenues of frozen Russian assets. Following the lifting of some blockades by the Hungarian government, further funds were released and sanctions packages adopted. German and EU representatives emphasize the necessity of continued support, which has a positive impact on Ukraine. The use of a fund for arms deliveries is being discussed at a meeting of EU defense ministers in Cyprus.
