Salon de l’agriculture : l’objectif de la France est de « produire, préserver et protéger », souligne Emmanuel Macron 21.02.2026

President Emmanuel Macron opened the Salon de l’agriculture in Paris on Saturday, February 21, 2026, amidst a severe agricultural crisis and the exceptional absence of cattle due to nodular dermatosis. Macron articulated France's agricultural objectives as "to produce, preserve, and protect," emphasizing the importance of domestic production for national sovereignty and inviting citizens to attend the event to celebrate French agriculture and agri-food industries. He highlighted government efforts to simplify regulations and accelerate agricultural processes, alongside commitments to safeguard water, soil, and biodiversity. Macron also stressed the need for stricter import controls to ensure fair competition and protect public health, referencing his opposition to the Mercosur free trade agreement and the successful doubling of import inspections. He expressed optimism regarding France's progress in combating nodular dermatosis, which first appeared in June 2025.
