Samsung turns your phone into a 'Digital Home Key' to get in securely 02.03.2026

Samsung has introduced a "Digital Home Key" feature within its Wallet app, enabling users to unlock compatible smart home locks using their smartphones. Announced on March 2, this feature, developed in partnership with Aliro and utilizing the CSA's industry-standardized communication protocol, allows users to add digital keys to their Wallet after setting up a compatible smart lock via SmartThings. Users can then choose between NFC, requiring a tap on the lock, or Ultra-Wideband (UWB) for proximity-based unlocking. Security is managed through Samsung Knox, with home keys stored securely on the device and protected by biometric or PIN authentication. The rollout begins in March, with plans to expand compatibility to more smart lock brands.
