The South African National Editors' Forum (Sanef) announced on Friday that an independent legal investigation has cleared former chair and Sunday Times editor Makhudu Sefara of any breaches of its constitution, code of conduct, or organizational values. The inquiry was commissioned after the Special Investigating Unit (SIU) issued a media statement linking Sefara to alleged misappropriation of National Lotteries Commission funds. Sanef appointed independent legal counsel to determine if Sefara had acted improperly, clarifying that the process was not intended to duplicate or interfere with the SIU's own investigation.
