SANITAS Unionists Protest Now in Victoriei Square Against Salary Law. Demonstrators Will March to Parliament 03.06.2026

SANITAS unionists are protesting on Wednesday, October 26, in Bucharest's Victoriei Square, against the draft of the new salary law, which they consider "unfair, incomplete, and profoundly unfavorable" to employees in healthcare and social assistance. The demonstrators, who arrived from several counties, including Arad, Cluj, and Constanța, claim that over half of the employees will have capped or even lower incomes due to the reduction of bonuses and the lack of adequate compensation. They accuse the government of not honoring its commitments from negotiations and of creating the draft "hastily," prioritizing salary increases for parliamentarians and government officials. The unionists intend to march to Parliament to demand the withdrawal of the draft and the resumption of genuine negotiations.
