The blockade of the Strait of Hormuz has fundamentally redrawn Kenya's fuel supply map, with Saudi Arabia overtaking the United Arab Emirates (UAE) as the country's largest source of petroleum imports. Saudi Arabia has leveraged its East-West Pipeline, built in the 1980s, to bypass the Strait of Hormuz, which Iran shut following the war that began on February 28. This infrastructure advantage has allowed Saudi Aramco to maintain business continuity and become the biggest beneficiary of Kenya's government-to-government (G-to-G) fuel import programme.
