Schüler als „Sklave“ und „Halter“: Riesen-Eklat an Privatgymnasium – „Sprachlos und wütend“ 22.02.2026

A significant scandal erupted at the De la Salle Marianum private gymnasium in Vienna-Währing on Shrove Tuesday, February 22, 2026, when two 18-year-old students staged a racist reenactment for an eighth-grade class. One student, portraying a white slave owner, led another student, who was Black and had undergone blackfacing, on a leash, referring to him as "Django, the slave." While some classmates laughed, others were disturbed, and the teacher present reportedly took photos instead of intervening. Following a complaint from a group of female students, Director Marie-Antoinette Call-Breitenecker expressed outrage, immediately reprimanded the students, and made them remove their makeup. The two students apologized in writing, promising to organize an anti-racism workshop, and received a warning, with expulsion threatened for future incidents. The teacher's actions are under review by the education authorities, and discussions with parents and a school psychologist are scheduled.
