Schüler als „Sklave“ und „Halter“: Riesen-Eklat an Privatgymnasium – „Sprachlos und wütend“ 22.02.2026

A significant scandal erupted at the De la Salle Marianum private gymnasium in Vienna-Währing on Shrove Tuesday, February 22, 2026, when two 18-year-old students staged a racist reenactment. One student, in blackface, posed as a slave owner leading another student on a leash, referring to him as "Django, the slave," referencing the film "Django Unchained." While some classmates laughed, others were disturbed. Shockingly, the supervising teacher not only failed to intervene but also took photos. Following a complaint from a group of female students, Director Marie-Antoinette Call-Breitenecker expressed outrage, immediately reprimanded the students, and confiscated their makeup. The two boys apologized in writing, acknowledging their "thoughtless stupidity" and "big mistake," and pledged to organize an anti-racism workshop. They received a warning, with expulsion threatened for future incidents. The teacher's actions are under review by the education authority, and discussions with parents and a school psychologist are scheduled.
