Schluss mit Shorts und Flip-Flops – Kreuzfahrt-Passagiere in Rage: „Lächerlich“ 23.02.2026

Norwegian Cruise Line has updated its "Freestyle" dress code for dinner, prohibiting shorts and flip-flops in six upscale restaurants, including Palomar, Ocean Blue, Onda, Cagney's, Le Bistro, and The Haven. This change, reported by Fox News Digital, also bans tank tops, hoodies, bathrobes, baseball caps, ripped jeans, and clothing with offensive graphics. The updated policy, discovered in the FAQ section by travelers, has sparked significant backlash on social media platforms like X, Facebook, and Reddit, with many guests expressing disappointment and threatening to switch cruise lines due to the perceived loss of the line's relaxed atmosphere. While some defend the new rules as restoring class and improving ambiance, others find them impractical, especially in warm climates. Norwegian Cruise Line, which previously revolutionized the industry by eliminating fixed dining times and formal dress codes over 20 years ago, has not indicated any plans to reverse the policy, despite its significant passenger numbers in 2025.
