UNICEF has issued an urgent appeal for the rehabilitation of Lebanese schools damaged by the conflict between Hezbollah and Israel, which began on March 2. According to a census by the Ministry of Education, conducted with technical support from UNICEF via the Fund for Education, Transition, and Resilience (TREF), 340 buildings of public, private, and technical institutions have been damaged. Among them, 17 are completely destroyed. The damage is particularly concentrated in the governorates (mohafazats) of Nabatiyeh, South Lebanon, Beqaa, and Baalbek-Hermel—areas severely affected by the conflict, which has displaced over one million people and led to a new Israeli occupation of part of the South.
