Schriftstellerin Siri Hustvedt über Anti-Trump-Proteste: „Ich glaube, dass der Widerstand in den Untergrund gehen wird“ 15.02.2026

Novelist Siri Hustvedt, originally from Minnesota, expressed pride in her home state's growing resistance against the Trump administration's policies, particularly citing protests against Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) raids. These raids, part of a rigorous deportation strategy, led to federal officers fatally shooting two U.S. citizens in Minneapolis, intensifying public outrage and ultimately resulting in the suspension of the controversial operations in Minnesota. Hustvedt described current U.S. governance as exhibiting "forms of fascism," referencing the presence of a paramilitary force like ICE and territorial expansion, and suggested that if the situation deteriorates further, resistance will move "underground." She made these remarks during an interview at the Berlinale film festival, where a documentary about her life was screened.
