Despite a fall preventing her from reaching the final in the 1,500-meter race, Schulting expressed immense happiness and gratitude for being back on the ice without pain, a feeling she doubted she would experience again. She had recently rejoined the national team for just ten days of preparation after focusing on long track speed skating, where she qualified for the Olympics.
