Schweden verlost fünf unbewohnte Inseln auf Zeit an internationale Bewerber 19.02.2026

Sweden's national tourism office has launched "Your Swedish Island," an initiative offering five international applicants the chance to live as official island keepers on uninhabited Swedish islands for one year, starting in 2026. This program, open to individuals aged 18 and above, aims to provide a unique experience of Sweden's pristine nature, allowing winners to inhabit an island for twelve months while also taking responsibility for its preservation. Applicants must submit a one-minute video explaining their connection to nature and motivation, with a deadline of April 17, 2026, and results to be announced in June. The five selected islands are located in diverse Swedish landscapes, including the Stockholm archipelago, Kattegat, near Umeå, and Lake Vänern.
