Schwere Unwetter in Nachbarland: Vielerorts weiter Alarmstufe rot – Lage dauert „möglicherweise noch länger“ 21.02.2026

Severe weather continues to batter France, with red alert levels for flooding remaining in effect for Maine-et-Loire, Charente-Maritime, and Loire-Atlantique, potentially lasting through Sunday, February 21st. Vigicrues warns that water levels may persist for an extended period, with stabilization not expected until Sunday night. The Paris region has also experienced flooding, and in Loire-Atlantique, entire neighborhoods, parks, and stadiums are submerged. At least 1,600 people have been evacuated, and significant disruptions plague rail and road networks. Despite the ongoing crisis, a slight reprieve is anticipated with milder, sunnier weather expected early next week. The nation has endured its longest period of consecutive rainfall since 1959, with 37 days of rain.
