Leaders of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) signed the Bishkek Declaration on Tuesday, condemning U.S. and Israeli military strikes on Iranian territory that violated international law and the UN Charter. The declaration, issued at the conclusion of a two-day summit in Kyrgyzstan marking the organization’s 25th anniversary, expressed condolences for the assassination of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei and senior military commanders. The 10-member Eurasian bloc also affirmed Iran’s rights under the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty to pursue peaceful nuclear energy.
