In Stadskanaal, a second woman involved in the extreme abuse of two children has had her parental authority over her daughter terminated by the family court judge. The abuse, which involved the girl being tied up with cable ties and severely malnourished, led to the arrest of two women, aged 31 and 33. While the girl's mother had previously lost her custody, she claims she was pressured by the boy's mother. The boy's mother denies the abuse of the girl and claims she herself is a victim of physical violence by her partner. The judge described the girl's mother's failure to seek assistance as "exceptionally concerning." The boy has since been placed in a foster home, where his health is noticeably improving.
