Security agencies in Ethiopia have declared full preparedness to guarantee the peaceful, safe, and orderly execution of the nation's 7th general election, scheduled for June 1, 2026. The Addis Ababa Police Commission announced that all operational and security measures are in place for election day and the subsequent period, resulting from collaborative planning with relevant institutions. These preparations aim to ensure public safety, protect electoral processes, and maintain stability in the capital and its environs. Joint coordination mechanisms among security forces were established to facilitate integrated planning and response for peaceful voting. The commission stressed efforts to prevent disruptions and allow citizens to exercise their democratic rights securely, while also urging public cooperation in reporting concerns through available channels to foster a calm and credible electoral environment for the over 54 million registered voters.
