Seine-et-Marne : Après la découverte du corps atrocement mutilé d’une femme, son ex-« compagnon » écroué 21.02.2026

A 33-year-old woman was found brutally murdered, eviscerated, strangled, and partially burned, in her Esbly (Seine-et-Marne) apartment on Friday. Her ex-partner, who admitted to inflicting the fatal injuries while denying intent to kill, was indicted for murder by a spouse and arson on Saturday and placed in pre-trial detention. The victim, a mother of two children aged 7 and 10, was discovered by firefighters responding to a blaze in her ground-floor apartment. Investigators indicated the suspect joined the victim at her home on the day of the incident, following a relationship that deteriorated due to his jealous behavior. This case highlights a concerning rise in femicides, with 107 women killed by their partners or ex-partners in 2024, an increase from 96 in 2023.
