Sembawang, Bukit Panjang, Punggol, Sengkang residents took longest to travel to work in 2025: Survey 05.07.2026

According to the General Household Survey 2025 released by SingStat on June 30, 2026, Sembawang residents experienced the longest median commute in Singapore at 50 minutes. Other towns with high median travel times of 45 minutes include Bukit Panjang, Punggol, Sengkang, and several others. Conversely, Tanglin residents recorded the shortest commutes at 25 minutes. Urban transport researcher Paul Barter noted that longer commutes are expected as many jobs are concentrated in the central region. While public transport usage rose to 60.1 per cent in 2025, those combining rail and bus services faced the longest median travel times at 56 minutes. The Land Transport Authority highlighted that the S$900 million Bus Connectivity Enhancement Programme has already benefited approximately 244,000 daily commuters through improved and new services.
