Senate Confirms Tegbe, Enikanolaiye As Ministers 06.05.2026

The Nigerian Senate has confirmed Joseph Olasunkanmi Tegbe and Ambassador Sola Enikanolaiye as Ministers of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, following their screening at the Committee of the Whole on Wednesday. This confirmation came after a request from President Bola Tinubu, who invoked Section 147(2) of the 1999 Constitution. During his screening, Tegbe highlighted that Nigeria's power crisis necessitates difficult and transparent reforms, stating there are no easy solutions and that a new approach is required. He previously served as Director-General of the Nigeria-China Strategic Partnership starting in 2025 and emphasized that power is crucial for national confidence, noting the inadequacy of past reforms. If confirmed, Tegbe pledged decisive action, prioritizing power distribution, metering, transparency, and sub-national participation, promising visible results within three months.
