Senator Raphael Warnock (D-GA) has formally called for the resignation of Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr., citing a dramatic spike in measles cases that has reached a 30-year high. As of July 23, 2026, the CDC has confirmed 2,318 measles cases across 45 districts, surpassing the 2,289 cases reported in all of 2025. The surge includes 35 new outbreaks, with 93% of cases occurring in unvaccinated individuals and half affecting children under 19. While no deaths have been reported in 2026, three deaths occurred in 2025.
