Senior hit at a crossing. Initially denied guilt, nearly escaped punishment as well. 07.07.2026

Košice police investigated a traffic accident that occurred in December 2024 on Levočská Street in Košice. A Volvo XC60, driven by 20-year-old Gabriell K., failed to yield the right of way to pedestrian Ľudmila B. at a pedestrian crossing leading from a bus stop to residential blocks. The senior was thrown onto the roadway by the impact of the vehicle's left side-view mirror, sustaining serious injuries, including fractures of the parietal and sphenoid bones, intracranial hemorrhage, and a concussion. The accused driver committed the act in a more serious manner due to negligence and breach of duties. After denying guilt in municipal court in February, Gabriell K. filed an appeal, which was reviewed by the Košice Regional Court at the end of June. This case involved serious bodily harm caused by the driver's negligence at a pedestrian crossing.
