SERAP Urges Tinubu To Probe Alleged ₦2.9bn Fraud In NIGCOMSAT, NNRA 12.04.2026

The Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) has formally urged President Bola Tinubu to initiate a thorough investigation into alleged financial irregularities totaling ₦2.9 billion within the Nigerian Communications Satellite Ltd (NIGCOMSAT) and the Nigerian Nuclear Regulatory Authority (NNRA). SERAP's letter, dated April 11, 2026, and signed by deputy director Kolawole Oluwadare, calls for accountability from the Minister of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, Bosun Tijani, and the management of both agencies. The organization specifically requests disclosure of shareholders for a company that allegedly received ₦465 million in unauthorized investment from NIGCOMSAT. These demands stem from findings in the Auditor-General’s report published on September 9, 2025, which detailed various instances of mismanagement, including unremitted revenue, ineligible payments, and unsupplied items, impacting critical sectors of Nigeria's digital economy and national safety. SERAP has given the government seven days to respond, threatening legal action if its demands are not met.
