She left Bangladesh with hope; returned pregnant and broken 03.06.2026

Farhana, a widow from Bangladesh facing poverty, sought a better life through employment in Saudi Arabia, departing in late December 2024. She returned on February 9, 2025, pregnant, starved, and having endured forced labor, sexual exploitation, imprisonment, and abuse. After being held in a hotel, she was forced into domestic work, discovering she had been "sold" for 10,000 Saudi riyals. She later escaped and was coerced into sex work in Jeddah before fleeing again. Eventually imprisoned in Saudi Arabia for five months, she was repatriated to Bangladesh, where she received support from BRAC and BNWLA. On May 24, she gave birth to a daughter under BRAC's supervision. Now, after nearly three months of care, she has returned to her village with her mother and daughter.
