Nancy Guthrie sheriff defends pace of investigation more than 4 months into search 03.06.2026

Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos has defended the pace of the investigation into the suspected abduction of Nancy Guthrie, now over four months old, attributing delays to the complexities of lab work, scientific protocols, and the judicial process. Nanos emphasized that investigations of this nature are not quick, requiring extensive DNA and digital testing, which relies on specialized labs. He noted that the initial forwarding of hair samples to a private genetics lab in Florida, followed by their transfer to the FBI's Quantico lab for advanced testing, also contributed to the timeline. Despite ongoing forensic analysis and the potential use of new technological tools by the FBI, no suspects have been identified, and Guthrie's whereabouts remain unknown.
