Sicherheitsbilanz Hamburg: Weniger Todesopfer im Straßenverkehr – warum die Polizei dennoch mahnt 23.02.2026

In Hamburg during 2025, traffic fatalities significantly decreased from 39 to 21, with a corresponding reduction in severe injuries, according to police reports. Despite this positive trend, the overall number of accidents remained stable, with notable increases in incidents involving children and e-scooters. Fatalities among cyclists rose slightly to eleven, primarily due to errors during turns and crossings, with many cyclists being overlooked. The police emphasize the critical importance of helmet use, as only two of the fatally injured cyclists were wearing one. While pedestrian fatalities dropped, accidents and injuries remained consistent, often attributed to pedestrian misbehavior. E-scooter accidents saw a marked increase, largely self-inflicted, and alcohol continued to be a factor in accidents, particularly those resulting in personal injury. The police have implemented increased controls and prevention campaigns targeting vulnerable groups.
