En 2025, México se consolidó como el país más peligroso para los periodistas en la región, con siete comunicadores asesinados y una agresión registrada cada 19 horas, sumando un total de 451 incidentes, según el informe “Estructuras de Silencio” de Artículo 19. La organización detalló que, además de los homicidios, se reportó una desaparición y ocho intentos de asesinato. Las agresiones se distribuyeron en un 44% de ambiente hostil, 34% de abuso de poder público y 12% de violencia física, concentrándose principalmente en Ciudad de México, Puebla, Veracruz, Michoacán y Oaxaca. El reporte también advierte sobre el aumento del acoso judicial y la extinción del INAI como nuevas formas de censura que limitan el acceso a la información.
