Signal no. 1 in parts of Cagayan as ‘Inday’ enters Philippines 07.07.2026

On July 7, 2026, PAGASA officially renamed super typhoon ‘Bavi’ to ‘Inday’ as it entered the Philippine area of responsibility. By 3:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 8, tropical cyclone wind signal no. 1 was hoisted over northeastern Cagayan, specifically affecting Santa Ana, Gonzaga, Lal-Lo, Gattaran, and Santa Teresita. Although landfall in Luzon is unlikely, the super typhoon maintains maximum sustained winds of 185 kph with gusts reaching 230 kph. Experts predict ‘Inday’ will remain a super typhoon until Thursday before downgrading to a typhoon. The storm is expected to enhance the southwest monsoon, bringing strong winds to Pangasinan, Zambales, Bataan, Cavite, Batangas, Mimaropa, Bicol, Visayas, and Mindanao. While the storm moves westward toward Japan’s Ryukyu Islands, its outer circulation will continue to impact various regions across the Philippine archipelago through Thursday.
