Sindh CM Murad orders emergency steps as downpour wreaks havoc in several districts 03.08.2026

Widespread downpour in Umerkot, Tharparkar, Hyderabad, Mirpurkhas, Badin, Thatta, and other districts on Sunday left at least eight people dead and many others injured, severely disrupting civic life and damaging electrical, telecommunication, and drainage networks. Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, chairing a high-level meeting at the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA), expressed deep sorrow over the loss of lives and directed deputy commissioners to provide immediate assistance to affected families and ensure compensation according to official policy. The meeting was attended by senior officials including Adviser on Rehabilitation Gianchand Israni, Karachi Mayor Barrister Murtaza Wahab, and Chief Secretary Asif Hyder Shah, with commissioners and deputy commissioners of rain-affected districts participating via video link.
