Slowakei ruft „Erdöl-Notstand“ aus: Russische Pipeline durch Bombardierungen unterbrochen – Fico droht Selenskyj 19.02.2026

Slovakia has declared an "oil emergency" effective Thursday, with Prime Minister Robert Fico announcing the release of 250,000 tons of oil from emergency reserves to prevent fuel shortages. This measure is a response to the halt in Russian oil flow through the Druzhba pipeline via Ukraine since late January, a critical supply route for Slovakia and Hungary. The refinery Slovnaft, which holds a near-monopoly on fuel supply in Slovakia, will receive these reserves. While Slovnaft can also receive oil via the Adria pipeline from Croatia, it will take 20-30 days to reach full capacity. Fico blames Ukrainian President Zelenskyy for the disruption, claiming repairs are complete and Ukraine is intentionally blocking resumed deliveries, while Ukraine asserts that Slovakia and Hungary's continued purchase of Russian oil funds the war. Slovakia has threatened to cease electricity supplies to Ukraine if oil deliveries are not reinstated.
