Kazakhstan President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev met with Alikhan Smailov, Chairman of the Supreme Audit Chamber, to hear a report on the agency's activities for the first half of 2026. Smailov reported that 13 major state audits totaling 5.8 trillion tenge were conducted during this period, covering organizations such as Kazpost and the Aktau Sea Port. Through the elimination of violations, 128 billion tenge was returned to the state budget. As part of reforms, new rules for macroeconomic forecasting were implemented, and treasury control was strengthened. In the second half of 2026, 20 audits are planned, including inspections in Shymkent, Karaganda, and the East Kazakhstan regions. The President instructed the implementation of modern digital solutions and artificial intelligence technologies to improve the state audit system and increase the transparency of budgetary processes.
