SNCF is anticipating a record number of passengers for the winter holidays, with ten million tickets sold across all destinations, a 1% increase from the previous record-breaking year of 2025. Travel to the Alps specifically has seen a 4% rise in bookings. To accommodate this surge, particularly during the five "snow peak" weekends in February (February 7 to March 8), SNCF is deploying an additional 235 TGV trains to the Alps, bringing the total to 850, a 38% increase over normal operations. Maintenance on trains has been suspended during this period to maximize fleet availability, ensuring that the highest demand route, Paris to Bourg-Saint-Maurice, can maintain a train departure approximately every six minutes.
