A new study from the University of Southampton has found a significant link between "social jet lag" in teenagers and increased anxiety levels. Researchers reviewed 12 studies involving over 230,000 participants, concluding that teens with greater discrepancies between their weekday and weekend sleep schedules report higher anxiety. However, the authors caution that this is an association, not a proven cause-and-effect relationship, as higher anxiety also predicts greater social jet lag, creating a potential vicious cycle.
