Spanien: 20-jähriger hackt Hotelseite und bucht Luxuszimmer für einen Cent 19.02.2026

Spanish police arrested a 20-year-old man on February 18th for allegedly hacking a hotel booking website and manipulating its payment system. The perpetrator exploited a vulnerability to make luxury room reservations, costing up to 1,000 Euros per night, appear fully paid after only a one-cent transaction. This novel cyberattack method, which involved interfering with the transaction validation sequence, was detected when the booking platform reported suspicious activity, revealing that only 0.01 Euro was transferred per reservation. The suspect was apprehended while staying at a luxury hotel in Madrid for a four-night, 4,000 Euro booking, and the affected hotel reported over 20,000 Euros in losses from multiple stays. Authorities are investigating potential similar incidents and emphasize the need for enhanced verification of prepaid reservations.
