Spanish police 'dismantle' Scottish drugs gang as crime boss arrested 09.04.2026

Spanish police, in collaboration with Police Scotland, have dismantled a significant drug trafficking network led by the Lyons family, culminating in the arrest of crime boss Steven Lyons in the Netherlands on March 28, following his deportation from Bali. The 45-year-old Glaswegian, subject to an Interpol Red Notice, was apprehended after arriving in Indonesia from Singapore. This operation, dubbed Operation Armorum, has resulted in 14 arrests across four countries and 20 individuals under investigation, with assets frozen in Turkey. The gang, which operated a complex money laundering scheme involving shell companies and international transactions, managed millions of euros derived from drug trafficking, establishing a presence in Europe, the Middle East, and Asia. Lyons is expected to be extradited to Spain within weeks.
