A 32-year-old Singaporean man, Sebastian Lye Chee Weng, has been sentenced to five years and 11 months in prison and three strokes of the cane for grooming and sexually exploiting a 12-year-old American girl via video calls. Lye met the girl on Omegle in October 2018 and falsely claimed to be 17 to gain her trust, initiating a relationship. Between November 2018 and December 2019, he exploited her on at least 61 occasions, recording sexual acts performed during video calls. Lye was also investigated for exploiting another minor concurrently. He received an additional 66 days in jail for breaching a remission order after re-offending in April 2021.
