President Tharman Shanmugaratnam concluded a four-day state visit to Malaysia on July 15, describing it as "very productive." In a wrap-up interview with Singapore media, he highlighted that both countries' leaders are investing heavily in the relationship, pushing cooperation where possible. Tharman stressed that the healthy state of bilateral relations is "not a matter of luck." Both nations think alike on ASEAN's potential and international issues, particularly regarding the Straits of Malacca and Singapore. They are committed to ensuring these straits remain safe and toll-free, abiding by UNCLOS, the law of the sea. Tharman noted that the current management by Indonesia, Malaysia, and Singapore has achieved a "win-win" for all users.
