A 46-year-old Singapore man, Liu Jianping, is accusing an employee of Express Pet Cremation of dumping his 16-year-old Dachshund named Kimi into a rubbish bin instead of cremating it. Liu paid S$180 for the service, which included cremation and ash scattering at sea. After the employee collected Kimi's body on July 19, Liu went downstairs to throw rubbish and saw the employee waiting for a taxi without any bags. He then discovered a black garbage bag in the dumpster, which contained Kimi's body. Liu reported the incident to police and later contacted another pet cremation company, which provided photos before and after cremation. Express Pet Cremation initially said it would investigate but then stopped responding to calls and messages. Liu has not received a refund. The Animal and Veterinary Service (AVS) states that pets cannot be buried in public areas, and large animal carcasses like dogs must be handled by commercial crematoriums, not disposed of in general waste bins.
