During a walkabout at Yuhua Place Market and Hawker Centre, Prime Minister Lawrence Wong and Jurong Central SMC MP Xie Yao Quan sat down with an elderly man finishing a meal from Hua Xing Bak Kut Teh. The man, who had travelled from Punggol to the west specifically to try the famous stall, shared that he used the CDC vouchers to order fish—something he would not have done otherwise. "We used the CDC vouchers to order fish! If not, we would only order bak kut teh," he said. PM Wong responded positively, calling it a "win-win situation" where consumers get more to eat and stallholders benefit from increased business.
