S'pore visitors likely to spend S$1.05 billion more per year in JB when RTS Link opens, study finds 13h ago

A study jointly commissioned by the Singapore Business Federation (SBF), Restaurant Association of Singapore (RAS), and Singapore Retailers Association (SRA) projects that the Johor Bahru-Singapore Rapid Transit System Link (RTS Link) will significantly alter cross-border spending patterns. According to the findings published on July 16, Singapore visitors are expected to spend S$1.05 billion more per year in Johor Bahru after the RTS Link opens in January 2027. This represents a 39% increase over the S$756 million in additional spending expected from JB visitors in Singapore, resulting in a net increase of S$290 million in outbound spend from Singapore annually—equivalent to 0.4% of the country's total retail and food and beverage sales in 2025.
