Shivasuria Maniam Kesaval, a 29-year-old former traffic police officer in Singapore, was sentenced to 16 months in jail on July 2 for unauthorized access to police systems and breaching the Official Secrets Act. The case involved his friend, Brayden Ong Ying Shan, 25, who had been reported by his ex-girlfriend for driving without a license. After Ong was apprehended by traffic police on July 12, 2022, he contacted Kesaval, who then accessed police databases between July 14 and 26 to obtain details about Ong's case, including the ex-girlfriend's private information and the original report.
